About

Green Tracks is a market garden that offers placements for adults with additional needs. We are a not for profit organisation that works organically and is environmentally sensitive.

Based in Wakefield, we have half an acre of land next to the children’s centre on Barnsley Road Sandal Wakefield and have started to cultivate the land to make a viable market garden. Our aim is to work with adults with learning difficulties who could fund a place through their personal budgets. We are also open to other means of funding, e.g. through offering training and accreditation in Land based studies.

At Green Tracks we work within a range of horticultural based activities and natural crafts (e.g. willow work) including garden maintenance, growing food and plants to sell, with the focus on developing work skills, within the context of a real work environment, helping to develop new skills and confidence in those who come and join us.

With the exception of mains water the site is off grid, our cabin will be run on 12v with power coming from solar panels and heat from a log burner.
